3 common Yoga mistakes

In today’s society, women have seemed to become more self-conscious. Women are struggling with their own image and personal happiness. Trying to find the easiest and fastest way to have that image that we crave is probably the hardest route to take. By doing this, we don’t pay attention to the things that might be hurting us more than they are benefiting us. Personal health and well-being are essential to our success, but in order to obtain the best there is, we must learn the best way there is.

Yoga has become the fitness routine of choice, which means that you have probably at least been to one Yoga class in your lifetime. However, going to a typical Yoga class could probably be hurting you even more. The reason for this is that there are 3 common Yoga mistakes woman are making unknowingly. This mistakes are directly responsible for injury, stress and waking in female areas.

Mistake 1: Relying on generic Yoga classes

Your average local class has to accommodate everybody to stay in business;  which means a class with people that have different levels of experience. So if you have been practicing for years, it doesn’t make sense that you would be taking the same class as someone who is just starting. And if you are just starting you might have to do posses you’re not comfortable with, leading to painful injuries.

Mistake 2: Thinking that all Yoga classes will de-stress and relax you

Cortisol, also known as the stress hormone, makes you gain unwanted weight and when you experience stress your cortisol levels go up. As Cortisol rises, your body tends to store fat in problem areas like the hips, butt, and thighs. Yoga can help reduce stress, however, going to most Yoga classes is the problem. Studies show that attending mainstream Yoga classes produces more Cortisol than not attending at all. Rushing to get to classes, fighting for a spot in the class, worrying about doing the moves correctly or being judged by this, unknowingly raises your Cortisol levels.

Mistake 3: Lack of progression

A generic Yoga class has no idea where you are at, the class is the same week after week. Some posses might change but there is no way of building on the last time because the group might always be different. So you begin to do the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.
